We were fortunate to have already had a Fire Risk Assessment done before the Fire Brigade sent their letter!
It has still cost us an arm and a leg! It will take us a very, very long time to recover these costs.
We don't have a problem with doing stuff to keep ourselves and our guests safe but we do have major concerns about the 'overkill' factor. This is our home! We live here all the time and know each guests' needs. I was worried by the officious feel to all the 'laws' but have since discovered that a 'LAW' is only passed by an
Act of Parliament and all the rest are only 'recommendations'!
Different Fire Brigade areas are interpreting the law/recommendations very differently, which isn't helpful.
The saddest part of all is that I have heard that some B&Bs have actually ceased trading because they cannot raise enough money to install such comprehensive fire alarm systems.
